My Take.....

This version was written and delivered in 2001 ... following the regular season and just before the Fiesta Bowl. We headed down to the game and while at the pre-game pep rally for the Fiesta Bowl, we were approached by a local television crew - Fox, I think. We were very happy to deliver this 2001 version ..."The Rose Bowl in the Desert". It was fun to get a little exposure for our fooling around.

"Rose Bowl in the Desert" sprang from the fact that Nebraska was chosen to play in the MNC (Mythical National Championship) game in Pasadena in the Rose Bowl instead of Oregon even though they had not even won their own conference and Oregon was otherwise ranked number two in both major polls at the time. ......

A side bar to that also was the Heisman race that year. Joey Harrington should have won it (unbiased opinion here...) But then a ten story tall mural on the side of a building served it's purpose....

Oregon was just beginning it's climb into the stratosphere of Division One football......"at the Rose Bowl in the Desert and we've just begun,,,,,,It's just the beginning of Oregon Football - in the De-sert Sun.....NUMBER ONE!"
